„Pļavnieki–2” becomes „QR code stop of the month” in August
In August, "Rīgas satiksme" launched a campaign „QR-code stop of the month”, encouraging passengers to use QR codes available at public transport stops for getting to know public transport departure times and the nearest e-ticket trade outlets. In August, QR codes were mostly used at stop „Pļavnieki – 2”, which will be now marked by a special plate.
It was followed by „Daugavpils Street” and „Motor museum”. In August, QR codes were used 2957 times.
The website of "Rīgas satiksme" at www.rigassatiksme.lv published a question, asking "In which cases do you use QR codes from public transport schedules?" The answers show that a majority of the respondents, 89%, do not use QR codes available at public transport stops. 8% scan QR codes to get to know public transport departure times faster. 2% of respondents use QR codes when there are too many schedules at one stop, and, 1% - to find the nearest e-ticket trade outlet. 1430 respondents participated in the poll.
In September, "Rīgas satiksme" also calls on all passengers to participate in campaign „QR-code stop of the month”. The goal of the campaign is to find out public transport stops at which passengers mostly use QR codes from public transport schedules. Every month the most popular stops will be marked with a special plate.
QR codes are 2D codes on public transport schedules allowing passengers to get to know public transport departure times, the nearest e-ticket trade outlets, the nearest night transport stops and to plan routes, provided they are scanned by an application loaded into a smartphone or another device. The smart-phone or another device will display all public transport routes available at this stop – not only the scanned route. It will allow passengers to save time and find out data they need!
